The Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost and the Twenty-third of the Year – This week’s bulletin for Mary Immaculate of Lourdes, Newton:
Cover photo: The sanctuary of our parish church, “Gospel side” of the high altar: the two angel sculptures on either side of the altar remind us of the presence of the Holy Angels, in particular the “Angel of the Mass,” who is St. Gabriel Archangel, and the Guardian Angel of the parish, who is invoked in the closing prayers of the Asperges (“The Rite of Sprinkling” with Holy Water, which reminds us of our Baptism) in these words: Hear us, Holy Lord, Almighty Father, Eternal God: and be pleased to send Thy Holy Angel from heaven to guard, cherish, protect, visit and defend all that dwell in this house: through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Sodality banner in the background is of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. (PHOTO by Jan Paul Von Wendt.)
